With 141,075 Porsches sold around the world, just over half of those were Cayennes. The U.S. market remains the biggest for Porsche, with 35,043 units in 2012, and China contributed 31,205 sales — a record.
As we previously reported, the same twin-turbo 4.8-liter V-8 found in the standard Cayenne turbo also powers the top-of-the-line model, tuned with an additional 50 hp. With that kind of power on tap, the Cayenne Turbo S is capable of a top speed of 175 mph, according to Porsche. The model receives Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC), Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus, and the Sport Chrono package as standard.
For looks, the Cayenne Turbo S gets standard 21-inch 911 Turbo II wheels – a set of alloys that Porsche says is exclusive to the flagship SUV, despite what the name suggests. Also helping to set the Cayenne Turbo S apart from lesser models are its large front air intakes and quad-tipped sport exhaust system.
With the standard 2013 Porsche Cayenne Turbo priced starting at $109,725, the Turbo S commands a premium of more than $37,000. Do you think the added performance and exclusivity of the Cayenne Turbo S is worth it? Tell us in the comments below.
